About Our Church

Grange Road Baptist Church is made up of people from all walks of life. We have people who have lived in or around Jarrow all of their lives, and have people from wider afield - both nationally and internationally.

Our Sunday services are friendly and welcoming. We meet from 10:30 - 11:30 every Sunday morning, sharing tea, coffee and biscuits afterwards. Our services have a mixture of hymns and contemporary songs, a children's message, prayers of thanksgiving and intercessions for the world, and a sermon (usually from a sermon series we plan). This year we have studied Jesus'  I am' statements, the book of Jonah, and are currently studying some of Jesus' parables.

The final Sunday of the month we have a café church. These services are more interactive, where we learn together, enjoying refreshments of tea, coffee and cake throughout the service. We study a Bible passage together using videos, craft activities and one another's Christian experiences to help us understand what God says, through the scriptures.

We try to be active in our local community running our own projects as well as working alongside other agencies, as an expression of our love for people. We believe that we are to share the love that we have received from God with those around us, caring for those we meet whenever we can.
